Between Malaga and Gibraltar, the Costa del Sol offers about 50 golf courses, varying from 9 holes to 27 holes, all in the vicinity of Los Lagos and Santa Maria Golf. This part of Costa del Sol is even called Costa del Golf. All luxury golfing facilities are found here. For golfers, there are all kinds of discount facilities on the green fee. Watersports are also available, ranging from windsurfing, to diving and waterskiing. Tennis courts are available too. During the winter, you can combine a sea and sand holiday with a skiing trip to the Sierra Nevada near Granada, about a 1.5-hour drive away. In the immediate vicinity of Marbella, you will find a wide variety of high standard restaurants and especially so in Puerto Banus, combining cuisine excellence with a jet set spot.
You can take endless walks along the Puerto Banus and Marbella boulevards, you may even meet celebrities in show-biz, sports or in business. Without omitting the magnificent beaches at Costa del Sol! To begin with you may discover the Marbella Old Town, with its historical streets. The numerous shops, boutiques and restaurants of Plaza de Los Naranjos offer an unforgettable day. The Salvador Dali permanent exhibition is definitely worth the detour. A day-trip to Morocco is a unique excursion taking you to Algeciras near the Spanish enclave of Ceuta or to Tangiers. Further out (about 200km), you can discover Granada with its extraordinary Alhambra, Sevilla and Cordoba. You can also discover magnificent towns such as Ojén, Istan, Coin and Gaucin. Ronda (about 75km away) is certainly worth seeing with its Puente Nuevo, an enormous stone bridge dating back to the 18th Century and that links the old and new parts of the town, with a unique view 200m beneath. Ronda has the oldest arena and the oldest bullfighting museum in Spain. A holiday on the Costa del Sol would be incomplete without a visit to Gibraltar with its monkey rock. Malaga (40km away), birthplace of Picasso, boasts its Renaissance style cathedral, its Picasso museum and the Alcazaba.
