The prettiest markets in Provence

The cosiest markets in Provence

Is your next holiday at the Provence in France? At Cap you will find a holiday home with pool in Provence where the whole family will be overjoyed. A private garden where you can enjoy the sun, the crickets and an appetizer by the pool? Lets get into it!

We immediately associate Provence with the delicious aromas, colours and flavours that the region is so rich in. Marseille soap, lavender, rosé wine and, of course, Provencal herbs immediately come to mind. And there is no better way to enjoy these specialities on holiday in Provence than by visiting the local market. If you are planning a car holiday with a holiday home in Provence, the market options are countless, so we give you our favourites!

1. Arles

Every Wednesday and Saturday morning, you can find a market in Arles. Cheeses, fruit and vegetables, local delicacies, flowers, herbs, and much more. The Saturday market takes place on the boulevards des Lices and Clémenceau and is sometimes called the most beautiful market in Provence. Expect about two kilometres of stalls with fresh and local delicacies. On the boulevard des Lices, there is also a great brocante market on the first and third Wednesday of the month where you can shop for unique gadgets or vintage furniture.

2. Aix-en-Provence

Aix-en-Provence is a city not to be missed on holiday in France. The city has the charm of a typical village in the Provence, but is much larger and more versatile. There is a daily market in Aix-en-Provence at the square Richelme where you can buy fresh vegetables, fruits, herbs, olive oil, eggs, cheeses, you name it. If you visit Aix-en-Provence, make some time in the morning to stroll around this market like a real local inhabitant.

3. Marseille

If you book a holiday home in Provence, you will probably also want to visit Marseille. Marseille is the second largest city in France in terms of population and is the largest port in the country. So there are different markets every week, but if you have to choose a city in Provence where you can taste the Mediterranean, it is Marseille. The fish market at the old port is located at Quai de la Fraternité and can be visited daily from 8 am to 1 pm.

4. Saint-Rémy de Provence

Saint-Rémy de Provence is home to one of the most beautiful markets in Provence, if not in France. On Wednesday mornings, you can stroll through the stalls in the city centre and enjoy everything that is typical of Provence: cheeses, olives, herbs, honey, colourful fabrics and more. The market in Saint-Rémy de Provence is appropriately called 'Grand Marché Provençal'. Looking for a holiday home in Provence? At Cap we have the nicest holiday homes with swimming pool in Saint-Rémy de Provence, the heart of the region.

5. Graveson

At the market in Graveson, only farmers and craftsmen sell their own products. For the freshest products and delicacies, Graveson is the place to be, because you can get them directly from the land to your plate! The 'marché paysan' takes place every week on Friday. Graveson is a small municipality close to Saint-Rémy de Provence and Avignon with a picturesque centre where you can enjoy the atmosphere of Provence at your leisure.

Find your ideal holiday home in Provence and enjoy the most colourful region in France! Do you have questions or doubts? At Cap we are happy to help you realise your dream holiday in a safe and hygienic way.
