As the Romans knew, Nîmes has a lot to offer! This extraordinary city is home to numerous historical ruins and relics. The 'Maison Carrée' is a must-see and the Nîmes Arena will take you back to the days of bread and games. The Jardins de la Fontaine on Mount Cavaliers and the Temple de Diane will also undoubtedly charm you. Today, all these magnificent buildings form the backdrop of the vibrant modern life taking place in Nîmes. On your stroll through the city center, be charmed by the many quaint shops and terraces. And suddenly stay a few days, you won't regret it.

Uzès

Near the famous Pont du Gard (an impressive Roman aqueduct) and the cities of Nimes and Avignon, you will find the beautiful village of Uzès, which was a bishopric until the early nineteenth century. You can still notice that majestic status today in the many sights you can find there. The Saint-Théodorit Cathedral with its organ from the time of 'Louis Quatorze' and its accompanying Tour Fenestrelle should definitely be on your list. Today, the stately Episcopal Palace is a museum that you should certainly visit. The Musée du Bonbon is also a must for those who love sweets and history!

This region is also home to the caves of Trabuc and Cocalière, where you can get a wonderful impression of life in prehistoric times. If your appetite for history and architecture is not yet satisfied, we suggest you also add the Fort Saint-André near Villeneuve-les-Avignon to your list. The castle of Beaucaire and the Château des Portes can then serve as cherries on the cake.  Looking for a holiday home in the Gard? Then this place is definitely a great base!

Camargue

Finally, let's not forget the Camargue, a beautiful nature reserve with lakes and lagoons that is home to unique fauna and flora. Ideal for a few days' rest after visiting the beautiful cities the Gard region has to offer. You can explore the Camargue by bike, on foot or even on horseback.
