5 photogenic sights on the Côte d'Azur

Everyone knows the Côte d'Azur, or the French Riviera, as one of the most popular holiday destinations among our compatriots. The Côte d'Azur is enriched with many cities and villages that are steeped in history, but at the same time, you will find glamorous beach resorts and some of the most beautiful shopping streets and restaurants around. This mix between culture and the good life is something we can appreciate all too well. Still looking for a holiday home with pool on the Côte d'Azur? At Cap we have a lovely holiday home for everyone for a wonderful holiday on the Côte d'Azur.

The Côte d'Azur is loved by celebrities and models for a reason: if you appreciate beautiful surroundings and want to fill your Instagram or photo books with the most beautiful holiday memories, it's the place to be. Take these tips with you when you travel to France, because these are five of the most photogenic sights on the Côte d'Azur that you should not miss.

Promenade des Anglais

Stroll along the Mediterranean Sea on Nice's Promenade des Anglais for a blissful holiday feeling. The long promenade is lined with palm trees, a true southern French icon and is called 'La Prom' by the locals. Strolling along the promenade, you can admire the many beautiful belle époque buildings, including the iconic Hotel Négresco. Be sure to stop by and admire all the beauty. Stroll further down La Prom to the indoor botanical garden La Phoenix, with one of the largest tropical greenhouses in Europe where you can see all sorts of unusual flowers, plants and even animals.

Porquerolles

Porquerolles is the largest island in les Îles d'Hyères and is definitely worth a visit. Surrounded by brilliant blue water, the little island is about a 25-minute ferry ride from Saint-Tropez. In the summer you can also take a boat there from other nearby southern French coastal towns such as Le Lavandou and Toulon. Porquerolles is loved for its lovely beaches and as an escape from the city as you can take lovely walks in the countryside, where you can enjoy the paradise atmosphere. If you want to put Porquerolles on your to do list, a holiday home on the Côte d'Azur is a great idea.

Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild

The French Riviera has long been one of the favourite havens for the world's rich and famous and over the centuries it has produced some beautiful architectural gems. One of the most famous examples is Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild, also known as Villa Île-de-France, which is located in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, between Nice and Monaco, on the Côte d'Azur. The magnificent villa was built between 1905 and 1912 at the behest of the Baroness Béatrice de Rothschild of the famous banking family. The Baroness furnished her residence overlooking the Mediterranean with the finest furniture, works of art and an exceptional collection of porcelain, and surrounded it with as many as nine lush gardens that the French Ministry of Culture ranks among the most extraordinary gardens in all of France.

Chateau de Nice

The name is misleading because on the hill of le Parc de la Colline du Chateau, there is actually no castle anymore. However, the hill is a nice destination to end your city walk with because the views over Nice and the coast are beautiful. Moreover, you can still visit the ruins of the former castle and events are regularly organised there. The history of the hill makes it a very interesting place to visit, as la Colline du Chateau is the actual ancient heart of the city of Nice.

Èze

The ancient town of Èze is often described as one of the most beautiful places in the south of France. Because the centre is situated on a rocky spur surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea, the views are fantastic. The picturesque streets filled with small shops and old houses attract many tourists every year, but this town is definitely worth a visit. Higher up in Èze, you will also find a botanical garden with exotic plants and the view over the rest of the town and the sea is magnificent.

These visits are guaranteed to leave you with beautiful holiday photos worthy of Instagram. Are you still looking for a nice holiday home on the Côte d'Azur? View our offer and find a beautiful holiday homes with swimming pool on the Côte d'Azur and start planning!
