Au Bord du Tarn is a lovely holiday home, cosy and comfortable, with views of the Albi River from just about every room in the house. It is located in a small village, not far from everything there is to see in the area. And there is definitely a great deal to visit!
I can hardly blame tourists for being tourists, I was a part of that predicament. But now I’m thinking that it would have been an excellent idea to escape to a tranquil place, surrounded by nature, sleepy historical towns, and excellent wines.
Here is why I’m telling you about the Tarn today, and we only have one precious holiday house there so far.
Albi town is delightful, with its beautiful cathedral and its river running through it. Go to Brassac and discover its 12th Century cobbled bridge. Go to Castelnau de Montmirail and travel back in time as you stroll around its Medieval centre. Gordes-sur-Ciel is ranked among the most beautiful towns in France, and that’s saying something! Gaillac is worth a detour, and Giroussens will thrill ceramic lovers.
You have children with you and you just can’t see yourself dragging them on a cultural day, we get it: Les Jardins des Martels are a beautiful set of gardens and it has a mini farm the children will love.
As for everyone having a great time, the river has equipped beaches all along, offering an endless range of activities, from kayaking to water-skiing.
Get off the beaten track and enjoy a truly relaxing holiday!
Great food, fabulous weather, where every drive offers views of wondrous beauty in a corner of France that is historical and still authentic.
