The 6 most beautiful places in Italy

There are so many beautiful places in Italy that you may be faced with a major luxury problem when choosing a holiday destination. Lovers who have counted the country as their favourite holiday destination for years all give up a different favourite region in Italy. From Lake Garda to Tuscany, or maybe green Umbria or the colourful Amalfi Coast? Our favourite regions in Italy are listed below in no particular order as each has its own particular strengths.

Tuscany

Tuscany is perhaps the best known region in Italy. The typical Tuscan characteristics are often even synonymous with the ultimate Italian holiday atmosphere. Green hills and cypress trees define the landscape of this warm region. With a villa rental in Tuscany you are also never far from some of the most beautiful cultural cities in Italy. You can alternate a city trip to Siena, Florence, Pisa or Arezzo with a visit to charming villages such as Pienza, San Gimignano and Montepulciano. In Tuscany, it is absolute enjoyment. Add a glass of Chianti or Brunello di Montalcino and the picture is complete.

Umbria

Umbria is located in the heart of Italy and you can feel it: the rich history lives on here in the beautiful villages and cities in the wide green landscape. Because this province is not on the coast, you can find refreshment in one of the lakes, such as the untouched Lago Trasimeno. You can of course enjoy yourself to the fullest in your own holiday home with swimming pool in Umbria. Here you will find beautiful and authentic villages and cities that are typically located on a hill and overlook the surroundings and are full of historically interesting sights. In Perugia, you can walk underground medieval streets. Assisi is a famous pilgrimage site and a beautiful hill town and there are many lesser known towns like Citta di Castello that have been spared from tourism. For authenticity, Umbria is the place to be.

Sicily

in Sicily, the atmosphere of Italy reigns with the extra touch of paradise-like views on the Mediterranean Sea. Thanks to its location in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, Sicily has an interesting history, which gives the island a unique and rich culture. In the cities of Palermo, Cefalu and Taormina, you can witness for yourself the cultural mingling that takes place in the historic towns and villages. Sicily is bursting with ancient remains and sights. This brings us to another attraction, namely the volcano Etna. It is the highest active volcano in Europe, which you can also admire from close by as a fun day trip. So there is plenty to do on this lovely island. With a cottage in Sicily you are sure to have a wonderful trip.

Lake Garda

Lake Garda is and remains a favourite holiday destination for many families. Around the blue water, you will find colourful villages and towns and a lot of activities. In the lovely harbour towns, Garda, Lazise, Bardolino and Peschiera del Garda, you can relax on one of the many terraces and you will find many sights. Limone sul Garda, Malcesine and Riva del Garda are villages known for their picturesque streets and the beautiful nature that surrounds them. Sports enthusiasts who enjoy a nice walk will find just as much fun here as the water rats who enjoy the many water sports on the lake. A holiday home on Lake Garda is a great idea for young and old.

Lake Como

Lake Como combines the best of all worlds. Hollywood stars have secluded homes in the mountains or on the water's edge and we understand why. The beautiful surroundings, cosy villages and cities and many activities that you can do make Lake Como a wonderful holiday destination. The lake is huge, so there is something for everyone. Water sports, mountain biking, mountain hikes or do you prefer shopping and strolling through a beautiful city? Between Argegno, Bellagio, Como and many other towns and villages, there are sights and activities everywhere. Just like the rich and famous in Italy, nestle up in a holiday home with pool on Lake Como and enjoy all the fun that this beautiful region has to offer.

Le Marche

If you are ready for a quiet holiday among nature, but still want to combine it with the necessary amount of culture, Le Marche is a wonderful region in Italy. Even in the high season, it is quiet here thanks to the wide landscapes and the cities that are still relatively untouched by tourism. The most famous sights in Le Marche are Monte Sibillini with the nature reserve of the same name and the cities Urbino, San Léo, Ascoli Piceno, Pèsaro and Ancona. Avid hikers know Monte Sibillini, but also around and in the caves of Frasassi you can go for a long walk. Typical of Le Marche are the large and detached old farmhouses, many of which have now been converted into cosy or even luxurious holiday homes. A holiday house with swimming pool in Le Marche is therefore highly recommended.
