The golden trio of the Costa Brava

The Costa Brava stretches from Portbou to Blanes and is often the ideal starting point for anyone who wants to discover Catalonia. Are you renting a holiday home in the Costa Brava? Then discover here the 3 most famous and cosy villages of the Costa Brava.

Estartit

An old fishing village, between the Montgri mountains and the Mediterranean sea, which, due to its great location and fine sandy beach, evolved over time into a popular seaside resort with a beautiful harbour.

Rent a holiday home with swimming pool in Costa Brava and discover the quiet bays, the spectacular cliffs and of course the extensive sandy beaches. Between the well-known Platja Gran, the quieter Els Griells (water sports) or the hidden La Pletera there is enough choice to completely relax.

The old town, too, with its warm atmosphere, never fails to amaze. Its traditional history, the busy shopping street Santa Anna, the historical atmosphere and the colourful market on Thursdays will keep your senses sharp.

Thanks to its diverse landscapes and beautiful nature, this region is very popular among sports enthusiasts. Not only are the beaches ideal for water sports, but the Medes Islands also offer plenty of opportunities for deep-sea divers. Walking and cycling routes are highly recommended in Estartit, and the marina Club Nautico de Estartit is very accessible to everyone.

Do you rent a holiday home in Estartit? Daytrips to places like Girona and Barcelona are definitely on the to-do-list here, but Torroela de Montgri is also a must.

Parties have always been vital in Spanish culture, and this is no different in Estartit. St. John's Eve, Feast of Carmel and Patron Saint Anne's Day are all atmospheric events. Also the famous Jazz Festival L'Estartit, the underwater festival in June and the Beatles weekend in July attract many visitors every year.

A tourist attraction that has nevertheless kept its pleasant and typical character.

Pals

Pals, once a small fishing village in the province of Girona, has become a beautiful holiday resort mainly due to the beauty of its beaches and its golf possibilities. The town was declared a historical monument in its entirety thanks to a number of notable monuments such as the Sant Pere Church and the Torre de les Horres

The sport that tops the list here is golf. For years, lovers of this sport have been coming to Pals to play the beautiful courses; Emporda Golf, Golf Platja and Golf Serres are all regulars.

Rent a holiday home in Pals, Costa Brava and visit the market in the city centre every Tuesday. Enjoy the hustle and bustle; There is nothing better than strolling through the charming streets in Pals and browsing in the many ceramic shops. Also stop by Josep Pla, a viewpoint, where you can admire the beautiful surroundings of Pals.

Pals has some beautiful beaches where there is a wide range of water sports. Although Playa del Pals consists mainly of beautiful sandy beaches, a wild rocky coast starts here with high cliffs, beautiful coves and the most picturesque fishing villages. If you enjoy brisk but gentle walking, a hike to the next cove, Sa Siera, is definitely worthwhile.

Cyclists will have the opportunity here to take an excellent route along the mountains and the coast. You will be treated to some panoramic views of the Pyrenees.

Pals, it has something for everyone!

L’Escala

L'Escala paints a perfect picture of what the Costa Brava is all about: sun, sea and sand. But of course, Spanish culture and traditions are also very present here. This town is located in the Bay of Rosas and can officially count itself as one of the most beautiful bays in the world. This is due to its Romanesque architecture, the ruins of empùries, the beautiful natural parks, the delicious gastronomy and the many possibilities in terms of nautical sports facilities.

Unique spots such as Port La Clota determine the atmosphere here. Many fishermen settled in this natural harbour and the atmosphere of the past is still here. They mainly catch calamari, cuttlefish and the local speciality anchovies. These are traded early in the morning on the quay and this makes for a pleasant bustle.

For the more active, there are several possibilities here. Escala offers many water sports, but sailing takes the upper hand. The protected natural landscape, Parc Natural dels Aiguamolls de L'Empordà, is one of the most important wetlands of Catalonia and also a paradise for hikers and cyclists. If you venture a little outside the centre, you will have the opportunity to play tennis, golf, go-carting and even to go on beautiful horseback rides.

L'Escala also offers numerous local festivals in the summer. Festa del Carme on 16 July and Festa de la Sal in September provide the necessary entertainment.

Every Sunday morning, there is a large market at Plaça de L'Univers. Shoes, leather goods, jewellery and clothes are on offer, as well as fresh vegetables, fruit and charcuterie.

A holiday house with swimming pool in L'Escala, Costa Brava is a place where you can find your happiness all year round.
