Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert...how beautiful can a name sound? Well, in this case the name really does honour the village. This monastery village that was founded in the ninth century has an eventful history, especially of a religious nature. You should definitely go here to visit the remains of the old monastery and the cosy narrow streets full of local trinkets. The central square, the Place de Liberté, is pretty much the heart of the village from where you can take lovely walks. 

Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert is - quite rightly - called one of the most beautiful villages in France. Definitely worth a diversion, even if you rent a holiday home in Provence!

Pézenas is an absolutely amazing place in the Hérault department. The town used to be home to writers and artists of all kinds, including Molière, who was close friends with 'Louis Quatorze'. That artist vibe is still very much present in Pezenas today and creates a lovely relaxed atmosphere. It is so pleasant that you would almost consider living here. The location of Pezenas is also ideal; the beach of Valras is half an hour's drive and larger cities such as Montpellier are also nearby. All the way there!
